Staying on a good note.

So much has happened in the last two weeks. Captain came back before Christmas and he, BFF and I have been running around like old times. I finished out my semester with two A's and an A- and I am still waiting on that damn speech class grade. She's slacking. My Eng Comp prof spontaneously hugged me after the final and said she was proud of how well I grasped thesis writing, I almost cried. I had a lovely Christmas. Helped Capt put up his tree and had spaghetti with meat sauce thanks to mama capt. I've had lots of good times out with dear friends. Brando apologized and I honestly wasn't bothered about it past the first few days he lost his mind. We're back in sync. I guess he is really socially strange and I need to be mindful and not take it personally. I met someone new who intrigues me. We have these long writing competitions with one another. Not really, but you would think so. He's cool. We have a lot in common. He's thoughtful and intelligent but it's no rush. Just nice long convos. I'm finally feeling like I am not even thinking about the need for relationships or dating. I'm just letting it unfold however it will and I like how it's been unfolding.

New Year's Eve night was great. Mel, Captain, Brando, Mel's sis , Mara's good friend Janay and her friend Betsy and myself went to Moe's to ring in the new year. $ 10- so recession friendly. We were supposed to go to the Promenade at 12 but we were warm and enjoying ourselves. We were pretty much the only people dancing. Everyone else was too cool to dance or too old rather. We had free champagne and too many drinks but it was wonderful. Brando got too drunk and looked like a seizure victim at one point. So after he tongued down Janay, was force-fed three glasses of water and then threw up for about 10 mins, we were politely asked to remove our friend from the establishment or my friend since no one wanted to claim him. Janay drove him home and she was probably intoxicated but we got there and back. We returned to see Jazzy and Michael at Moe's with Captain, Betsy and Mel's sis. We got back in time for one last dance, shared a black and mild outside in the cold an parted ways, and then headed to Arch's diner where along the way we met up with the snake and his people. But being him, a snake, he did what a snake does. Act an ass. I couldn't help but think - A new year, same old you. Shambles. Breakfast was delicious. Silver dollar pancakes are the ish, The sausages were on point... God - I'm hungry.

New Year's Eve epitomized my entire year- I closed 2008 by surrounding myself with only good company and I opened 2009 doing the same.
