It was a cool and breezy Sunday morning. I had just finished adjusting my pearl earrings in the bedroom mirror. My daffodil-yellow colored crochet fitted dress hugged my hips ever so nicely. I wore a white pearl necklace with the matching bracelet and donned my black leather pumps. My hair was pinned up with a nice little side bang swiped behind me ear. I gave the bedroom a once over to make sure everything was in its place before I walked out of the room.
As I headed down the corridor and towards the top of the stairs, I saw that my husband was dressed and waiting for me on the chaise. He is wearing his Sunday best: A light gray tailored suit with a pastel pink shirt and purple tie. That man looks so sinfully sexy in a suit. Thankfully, he was mindful enough to not have his black shoes on the carpet. I guess he got tired of me nagging him about them and took heed.
Our 14 month old son, Jayden is on the chaise laying on his back. His little giggles fill the air as his daddy tickles him. I watch as he gently and playfully buries his head in little Jayden's tummy to get him to giggle some more. As I stand at the top of the stairs and look at my two guys, I'm admiring how adorable they look together. Jayden has my chubby cheeks and his daddy's soft, brown eyes. He's dressed in his little suit as well and is almost a little replica of his daddy.
As I start down the stairs, my hubby looks up and smiles. He holds little Jayden on his lap facing my direction and says, "Look at Mommy. Isn't she pretty?". Of course Jayden only smiles to respond as he tries to stretch his little arms towards me. As I come closer, my husband rises with Jayden and being such a mommy,I begin to adjust both their ties and brush away invisible lint with my hands. My husband looks at me, smiles and shakes his head. Little Jayden tries to pull my pearls with a little gleam in his eyes. I kiss my adorable little boy on his forehead as my husband swipes my free strands back behind my ear. I turn to him and kiss him gently on his soft and full lips as he puts his free arm around my waist. He whispers in my ear and I whisper the words right back. Little Jayden is still smiling his little cheeks off as he is now between us with one hand on mommy's pearls and his little fingers on daddy's mouth. In the moment, everything feels surreal.
Then, of course, I stop gazing in space and return to reality.
